Birthday Winner Claims Two Cash5 Top Prize TicketsTalk about a birthday present! Mark Letizio of Kensington claimed two “
Cash5” top prize tickets this past week on his birthday totaling $195,214. Letizio played his Cash5 numbers twice, matching all 5 numbers on each of his tickets winning $97,607.
The birthday winner has been using the same Quick Pick numbers for over a month. Letizio thought they were “weird numbers” and maybe they would bring him luck. He was certainly right!
“I wasn’t even going to play! I took the dog for a ride,” Letizio explained. Letizio saw his winning numbers on the news but “couldn’t believe it.” It wasn’t until the following morning that he confirmed his massive payday using a Ticket Checker. Letizio had to let his wife know the good news and texted her a picture of his prize.
The lucky winner aims to pay some bills and maybe buy a new work truck. With both checks in hand, Letizio left CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to go celebrate his very happy birthday.
The Cash5 numbers of Letizio’s ticket were a perfect match to the winning numbers drawn on September 21st: 15 – 16 – 17 – 19 – 31. In total, 3,303 winning tickets were sold statewide, with prizes ranging in value $2 to $97,607 each.
For selling the winning ticket, Food Bag #556 located on 152 New Britain Road in Kensington will receive two $1,000 checks from the CT Lottery.
