Volunteer Hospital Worker Shares $25,000 with Son and Granddaughter
Marie Moretti of Norwalk never picks the scratch game she is going to play. In fact, she lets the retailer choose the ticket. “[The retailer] normally hands me the newest game.” Luckily, this time around, the retailer chose right on “$50,000 Riches
Moretti played the ticket at home and saw that she was a $25,000 winner! Though she was excited about her winnings, Moretti could only think of her son and baby granddaughter describing them as the “pride and joy” of her life. Accompanied by her son, Moretti told Lottery officials, “I’ll give him and the baby some.”
When asked if she would treat herself to any of the winnings, the lucky grandmother pondered, “Maybe one day I’ll go somewhere [for vacation]—maybe Arizona, back to Tombstone.” Looking at her son with a smile, Moretti said, “I’ll take you kids.”
Moretti’s selflessness continued to show as she told Lottery officials that she works as a volunteer at the Norwalk Hospital Gift Shop. “Tomorrow I’ll do my duty—come home and relax,” said the satisfied and happy winner.
For selling the winning ticket, Rite Aid #10388 located on 120 New Canaan Avenue in Norwalk will receive a $250 check from the CT Lottery.
