“Railroad Family” Starts Vacation with a $30,000 WinSometimes a series of fortunate events happen for good reason. It certainly did for Thomas Maher of Norwalk who claimed $30,000 on day one of his family vacation at the CT Lottery Headquarters in Rocky Hill.
Maher and his wife, Leze Zadrima, met while working for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and consider themselves a proud “Railroad Family.” All that hard work led to some much needed time off, only made better by a lucky win.
Waking his wife from a nap, Maher exclaimed, “’Look I hit it! I guarantee we’ll hit the whole card!’ My son said ‘It’s 30,000!’ There was lots of screaming and crying.’”
Besides a vacation boost, Maher looks to enjoy his winnings in any way that he can. “Little of everything—the pool will go up, home improvements—but a little spending spree first.” Maher also hopes to support his son’s passion for building computers.
Maher’s family left for their vacation shortly after meeting with Lottery officials, but not before dancing and cheering throughout the lobby of the CT Lottery Headquarters.
For selling the winning ticket, In and Out Variety located on 178 Main Street in Norwalk will receive a $300 check from the CT Lottery.
The winning names, stories and photos on this website are just a small number of the thousands who claim prizes. The fact is, people win every day with the CT Lottery! Below is a list of recently claimed prizes of $10,000 or more. Please Note: When a winning scratch ticket is validated through a Lottery Retailer's terminal, the remaining number of unclaimed prizes for that prize level is automatically updated reflecting one less prize. Until the individual or group presents their winning ticket for claim at CT Lottery Headquarters, the identity of a winner is unknown.
