Wethersfield Groom-to-Be Says “I do” to $100,000 Prize
Last night, John Foley of Wethersfield purchased a CT Lottery “$1,000,000 Diamonds
” instant game ticket and did something very unusual. Instead of immediately scratching the “Scratch-2-Cash” barcode on the ticket and scanning it in the ticket checker like he usually does, he brought the ticket to a friend’s house and scratched off each play area, one by one, until all of the numbers and prize symbols were revealed. When Foley was finished, he was holding a winning ticket with a “COIN” symbol for the game’s $100,000 second prize.
“When I saw the $100,000, I handed my buddy the ticket and had him check it, just to be sure. Then, I signed the back of it, drove home, and put it right in the safe,” Foley told Lottery officials. “This [prize] comes at the perfect time, too. We’re getting married soon, and now we can definitely buy a house and pay for the wedding.”
Foley’s $100,000 prize winning ticket was purchased at Tara Market located at 456 New Park Avenue in West Hartford. For selling the ticket, Tara Market will receive a $1,000 check from the CT Lottery.
