Retired Deputy Fire Marshal "Strikes It Hot" Playing Lucky-4-LifeRetired Deputy Fire Marshal for the City of Stamford, Willie Baldwin, of the same town, is trained to inspect and interpret a variety of situations before taking action. So, it comes as no surprise that when Baldwin discovered he matched 4 of 5 numbers in the draw game, Lucky-4-Life on Thursday, April 23, he quickly put on his shoes and ran down the street to purchase a newspaper for further verification.
Flipping through the pages of the paper to locate the CT Lottery’s winning numbers, Baldwin saw that the "lucky" numbers he chose to play matched all but the Lucky Ball, and for that, he won $10,000. A stickler for details, Baldwin returned to Polonias Liquor Store located at 734 Pacific Street in Stamford where he purchased his ticket to inspect the Winning Numbers Report from the lottery terminal for Lucky-4-Life. It was “all good” after that, Baldwin told lottery officials with a cheery smile and a laugh.
The winning numbers drawn on that date were 10 - 17 - 27 - 28. The "Lucky Ball" was 04. A total of 14,251 winning Lucky-4-Life tickets were sold in that night’s drawing.
The day after the drawing, Baldwin arrived at Lottery Headquarters in Rocky Hill to receive a check for $7,000 (prize value after taxes). Baldwin plans to put his prize money to good use by paying for his mother’s trip to attend an out-of-state family reunion.
