Bristol Resident Claims Powerball $1,000,000 Prize Winning Ticket for Dec. 21
The CT Lottery announced today that Jerzy Krzyzaniak of Bristol has claimed the $1,000,000 prize for the December 21, 2013 Powerball
drawing. As CT’s newest Powerball “Match 5” prize winner, Krzyzaniak helped to increase the total number of lucky wins in Connecticut to 22 since the new Powerball game began on January 15, 2012—17 worth $1,000,000, plus another 5 that were Power Played® for the game’s $2,000,000 prize.
On December 21, Krzyzaniak’s Powerball “Quick Pick” ticket missed the Powerball number, 8, but matched the first five numbers drawn 25-36-40-45-51. In total, 7,887 winning Powerball tickets were sold statewide for that date, with prizes ranging from $4 to $1,000,000.
Sudershan Singh, owner of the Time Saver Convenience Store located at 350 Lake Avenue in Bristol, was astounded by the news that out of nearly 2,800 lottery retailers across the state, their lottery terminal was the one that generated Krzyzaniak’s $1,000,000 prize winning ticket.
“This is such a surprise for a little store; I never expected such a big win,” Singh enthusiastically shared with Lottery officials. “We couldn’t be happier that one of our local customers won such an amazing prize. Hopefully now there will be even more winners at our store.”
A lottery retailer since January 2012, Time Saver will receive a $2,500 bonus check from the CT Lottery for selling Krzyzaniak’s prize winning ticket.
