Meriden Native Wins $2,000 a Week for Life Playing Lucky-4-LifeIn August, while visiting her family in Meriden, Michigan resident Susan Dolehanty stopped into the local A & S Quik-Pik Convenience Store on East Main Street, saw a CT Lottery Lucky-4-Life game display, and decided to purchase some quick pick tickets. Back home in Durand, Michigan, Dolehanty forgot about that purchase until last week and was shocked when she logged onto the CT Lottery's web site and discovered that one of the tickets she had purchased was a Top Prize winner that will provide her with $2,000 a week, EVERY week, for the rest of her life.
The August 20, 2009 winning combination drawn was 06 - 14 - 25 - 31, and the Lucky Ball of 34. Dolehanty's ticket was the only Top Prize ticket sold for the August 20 drawing; an additional 11,651 winning tickets held prizes ranging from $3 to $10,000.
After telling her exciting news to family and friends, Dolehanty, who works as an operating room nurse at a local Michigan hospital, contacted the CT Lottery and booked a flight to Connecticut as soon as she could. "I'm shaking," she said today, as Lottery officials handed her the first of what is hoped to be many prize payments.
While long-term plans have not yet been made, Dolehanty is happy to know that the future includes plans for her child's education, home improvements, and the ability to care for family.
"We are excited for Mrs. Dolehanty," said Anne M. Noble, President & CEO, of the CT Lottery. "The final value of Lucky-4-Life's Top Prize is based on a winner's longevity. Her claim is a good reminder to all Lottery players to check their tickets regularly, because they expire 180 days following a drawing. We wish Mrs. Dolehanty a long life, filled with health, happiness, and continued good fortune."
For selling the winning ticket, A & S Quik-Pik will receive a $20,000 bonus.
