Stratford Golf Caddy Scores $100,000 Top Prize
Gregor Stegor of Stratford scored a “hole-in-one” recently not with a 7-iron, but a CT Lottery Cash5
“Quick Pick.” Matching all five winning numbers drawn on July 16, 2011, Stegor won the game’s $100,000 top prize.
The Cash5 numbers drawn on July 16 were 8 - 13 - 18 - 28 - 31. A total of 4,114 winning tickets were sold statewide for that drawing. Prize values ranged from $2 to $100,000 each.
The winning moment certainly hit a sweet spot for Stegor who discovered his five number match on the CT Lottery’s website. “It took a few minutes to process. When the numbers all match up, it’s very unusual circumstances. I wasn’t prepared,” Stegor told lottery officials with a laugh.
Stegor, a golf caddy for more than 35 years at the Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield, collected a check at CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill for $68,500 (prize value after taxes). “I need a new roof on the house and a furnace for the winter. The rest I’ll share with my two sons,” Stegor said.
Stegor purchased his winning Cash5 ticket at Gene’s Automotive at 6567 Main Street in Trumbull. Gene’s Automotive will receive $1,000 from the CT Lottery for selling the ticket.
