Power Play Pays Even More with New Powerball Game Changes and Improved Overall OddsStarting Sunday, October 4, even bigger Powerball prizes can be won, and more often, with the newly enhanced Power Play prize multiplier!
Power Play tickets cost $3 and will multiply any non-jackpot Powerball prize up to 10 times. The 10X multiplier will be available on all jackpots valued at $150 million or less. Another prize booster for players is the $1 million prize for matching 5 white ball numbers will double to $2 million when Power Play is purchased.
The biggest boost of all that CT Lottery players will feel is for matching four white-ball numbers, plus the red Powerball number. The game’s current $10,000 prize is increasing to $50,000. That means a “Match 4 + Powerball” prize will pay even more with Power Play—with prizes ranging from $100,000 to $500,000!
Powerball’s overall odds are being improved to 1 in 24.9 from the current 1 in 31.8. To achieve these better odds, the game matrix is changing to 5 of 69, and 1 Powerball number from a pool of 26.
Power Play tickets remain at $3, and the price of a basic Powerball ticket is $2.
Odds of winning the jackpot will increase to 1 in 292,201,338 (currently 1 in 175,223,510).
