Annual Responsible Gambling
The CT Lottery hosted its 6th Annual “Give a Child a Toy, Not a Ticket” Holiday Toy Drive from November 8 through December 18, 2019, to help raise awareness that lottery tickets are not suitable gifts for children, and to collect toys for kids who are patients at Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
To do this, the CT Lottery proudly partnered with Connecticut Children’s and iHeart Media. We launched a multi-media effort aimed to educate parents not to buy lottery tickets for their kids' stockings. Instead, we encouraged them to purchase a toy and donate it to Connecticut Children's.
This year, nearly 1,000 toys were collected by the CT Lottery to donate to kids who are patients at Connecticut Children's. Connecticut Children's uses toys as a distraction from pain before shots, tests and surgeries, and to help celebrate birthdays and special events during longer stays.
Each year, the collected toys provide a little extra comfort to kids during their stay at Connecticut Children's. (Pictured above, CT Lottery staff along with Patricia McIntosh of Connecticut Children's.)
