Cos Cob Resident Gets "Lucky" and Wins $10,000As a general contractor, Tom Orrico of Cos Cob has experience building homes and making home additions. Recently, Orrico encountered an addition that he never anticipated; he discovered that his $2 “Lucky-4-Life” Quick Pick ticket for the December 6, 2010 drawing held a winning combination for a $10,000 second prize. “I play every Lucky-4-Life and Powerball drawing,” said Orrico, “I like the number games.”
Orrico matched the first four of the winning numbers for the December 6 drawing-- 01-15-26-31, but did not match the Lucky Ball of 05. In addition to Orrico’s winning ticket, there were 7,799 other winning tickets sold in that drawing.
On the morning after the drawing, Orrico logged on to the Lottery’s website to locate the winning Lucky-4-Life numbers. “I looked at the Lucky Ball number first, but I didn’t have it. Then I looked at the other four numbers.” After his good fortune discovery, Orrico immediately signed his ticket and brought it to a lottery retailer for verification.
Later that day, he traveled to Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to claim his check for $6,850 (prize value after taxes). “This will pay some bills; it will also help with some Christmas presents,” Orrico told Lottery officials.
The winning names, stories and photos on this website are just a small number of the thousands who claim prizes. The fact is, people win every day with the CT Lottery! Below is a list of recently claimed prizes of $10,000 or more. Please Note: When a winning scratch ticket is validated through a Lottery Retailer's terminal, the remaining number of unclaimed prizes for that prize level is automatically updated reflecting one less prize. Until the individual or group presents their winning ticket for claim at CT Lottery Headquarters, the identity of a winner is unknown.
