Retired Old Lyme Man Snags $100,000 Prize and Celebrates With Dog “Boo”Ever wake up in the morning and know that something wonderful is going to happen? Retired Old Lyme Resident, Jim Dudla, Sr., knew fortune was on his side the day he won the $100,000 prize on “
Jumbo Bucks” instant game ticket.
“I had a hunch—a feeling—that I was going to win today,” Dudla told Lottery officials with a smile.
Initially, Dudla went to a local CT Lottery Retailer to play a different scratch ticket, only to stumble upon “Jumbo Bucks” at the instant ticket vending machine. Dudla played the winning ticket in his truck alongside his trusty companion, a 6 year old dog named, “Boo”.
“I saw the ‘coin’ symbol (on his ticket) with $100,000 and thought ‘That’s pretty cool,’” Dudla said nonchalantly. “I looked at Boo and said—‘We’re going for a ride.’”
Dudla is looking forward to making retirement even more enjoyable. “I’ll put the winnings in savings—it’s a good cushion.” With Boo accompanying, Dudla left the CT Lottery Headquarters in Rocky Hill in high spirits.
Dudla’s top prize winning Jumbo Bucks ticket was purchased at Big Y World Class Market #6 at 90 Halls Road in Old Lyme. For selling the ticket, Big Y will receive a $1,000 check from the CT Lottery.
