New Britain Winner Bags $5.2 Million Lotto® Jackpot Prize for April 8th Drawing
After 45 years of employment at Stop & Shop #645 in New Britain, this Sunday Anna Teti will be trading in her job for an early retirement, all thanks to her timely claim of a jackpot winning Lotto
ticket for the April 8 drawing worth a cool $5.2 million.
“I had the winning (Lotto) ticket in my wallet for over a week and didn’t even know it,” the New Britain resident told Lottery officials. “I went on break at work, and decided to scan my tickets in the Ticket Checker. When I did, it said, ‘Go to Lottery Headquarters.’” Not fully understanding the meaning of the message, Teti gave her ticket to the clerk at the customer service counter to have it scanned by the Lottery terminal. “She printed out a receipt that said I had a 6 of 6 number match and won the jackpot. I was totally shocked—and then I went back to work!”
Teti’s winning Lotto “Quick Pick” ticket contained a perfect match to the winning numbers for the April 8 drawing, 4-11-26-27-28-31. In total, 7,736 winning Lotto tickets were sold for that date, with prizes ranging from $2 to $5.2 million. “It was the third drawing on my ‘Advance Action’ (Lotto) ticket that was the winner,” Teti said with a smile.
Lotto’s jackpot is payable as a 21-year annuity or a one-time cash lump-sum. Yesterday, at CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill, Teti opted to claim the jackpot’s cash lump-sum prize for $4,091,267 (before taxes), and was happily looking forward to all that her good fortune will bring. “My car died about a month ago, so now I can buy a new car; pay off some bills, and then just chill out for a while.”
Stop & Shop #645 at 1309 Corbin Avenue may be losing Teti as a valued employee, but they are gaining a $10,000 bonus check from the CT Lottery—for selling the jackpot winning ticket.
