Cash5 $100,000 Top Prize is Claimed for Nov. 6 Drawing
More than three months had passed since the single five number match was made in the CT Lottery’s Cash5
drawing for November 6. Today, Jill Roland of Naugatuck arrived at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill with that Cash5 winning ticket firmly in hand and ready to claim her prize.
“I watched the (Cash5) drawing that night on TV and wrote the winning numbers down on a piece of paper. I was tired, so I went to bed,” Roland said. “The next morning I checked my tickets. At first I thought I had four numbers and won $300, but when I double-checked them, I said, ‘Oh wait, I won $100,000!’”
The Cash5 numbers on Roland’s “Quick Pick” ticket were a perfect match to the winning numbers drawn on November 6: 7 - 12 - 16 - 19 - 23. In total, 4,249 winning tickets were sold statewide, with prizes ranging in value $2 to $100,000 each.
Roland said she took her time to claim her $100,000 prize due to the hustle and bustle of the holidays. “I have seven children and seven grandchildren. I get a little stressed around Thanksgiving and Christmas, so decided to wait,” Roland said. She also didn’t realize that all draw game tickets expire 180 (calendar) days from the drawing date. “Now that I know that, next time I won’t take so long to claim my prize!”
Roland’s winning ticket was purchased at Cross Point Convenience at 800 New Haven Road in Naugatuck. For selling the $100,000 prize winning ticket, Cross Point Convenience will receive a $1,000 selling bonus from the CT Lottery.
