Canterbury Man Gets “Bejeweled” and Instantly Wins $50,000 Top PrizeWhile in the process of buying a single CT Lottery “
Bejeweled” instant game ticket, Michael Adams of Canterbury noticed only one more ticket was left in the retailer’s dispenser. Adams had a hunch, so he bought the last ticket, too. As luck would have it, that last Bejeweled ticket contained “5 Identical Jewels” for the game’s $50,000 top prize.
“It’s a blessing,” Adams told Lottery officials. “I’m retired, so it will help pay off some bills.” After 43 years of marriage, the $50,000 top prize will also allow Adams to do something extra special for his wife, Brenda. “Now, when my wife and our son go on that 7 day cruise to Bermuda, I will pay for it.”
Adams claimed his $50,000 prize winning ticket at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill and received a check for $34,151 (after taxes). Starwood Food Market, located at 20 Norwich Avenue in Norwich, will also receive a $500 check from the CT Lottery for selling Adams his winning ticket.
