East Hartford Woman Receives Cash5 $100,000 Prize Winning Wake Up CallOn an uncharacteristic whim, Alicia Roman-Delgado of East Hartford took a chance and played “family birthday numbers” in the
Cash5 drawing on March 16. After her purchase, Alicia handed her mother the tickets for safekeeping. Later that evening, Alicia’s mother watched the Cash5 drawing on TV and then phoned her daughter with some amazing news—one of Alicia’s tickets was a five number match and she won $100,000.
“I asked my mom if she was kidding me,” Alicia told Lottery officials with a laugh. “Then I made her check the numbers again. When I woke up the next morning, I called her back and asked her if she really called me the night before or was I just dreaming. I still can’t believe it!”
The Cash5 numbers drawn on March 16 were 4 – 9 – 10 – 15 – 19. A total of 4,444 winning tickets were sold statewide for that drawing. Prize values ranged from $2 to $100,000 each.
Yesterday morning, Alicia and her mother arrived at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to collect a prize check for $68,300 (prize value after taxes). “I’m going to share the prize with my mom and the rest of the family,” Alicia said.
Eastwood Wine & Liquor, located at 1026 Main Street in East Hartford will receive a $1,000 selling bonus from the CT Lottery for selling Alicia her $100,000 prize winning ticket.
