Bridgeport Man Wins "A Whole Lot of Dough" Playing CT Lottery Instant Game
Natanael Martins, a bakery vendor who hails from Bridgeport, is well-accustomed to making his daily pizza dough deliveries to a variety of supermarkets located throughout the state. Recently, however, Martins was on the receiving end of some “dough” in the form of a $10,000 top prize winning “10X Cash 5th Edition” instant ticket. “I was very excited when I realized I won, but the owner almost cried, she was so happy for me,” Martins told Lottery officials.
While shopping recently at Vidago Variety & Deli, located at 124 Beechmont Avenue in Bridgeport, Martins also purchased a 10X Cash 5th Edition instant ticket. Before leaving the store, Martins scratched the ticket and revealed several “X” multiplier symbols next to a corresponding prize amount. When he added up the game’s total prize value, Martins unwittingly discovered that he was one of the game’s $10,000 top prize winners. Elaine Guedes, Vidago Variety & Deli’s new owner, was ecstatic that one of her regular customers won such an incredible prize. “The winner was so calm…I think if I had won $10,000, I would have hit the ceiling,” said Guedes laughing. “It’s nice to see someone in the neighborhood win. Our customers are great,” Guedes said.
Last week, Martins visited CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to collect his prize check for $6,853 (value after taxes). When asked by Lottery officials what he would like to do with his unexpected windfall, Martins, who has been happily married for 36 years, jokingly responded, “I’ve got to ask my wife.”
For selling Martins his $10,000 top prize winning ticket, Vidago Variety & Deli will receive a $100 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
