A Blind Date and 52 Years of Marriage, New Britain Couple Wins Again!Robert and Pauline Delldonna of New Britain are a couple many would consider incredibly lucky. After meeting on a blind date more than 52 years ago, Robert was “quick” to realize that she was “the one” and proposed to Pauline just four months later—they’ve been happily married ever since. Recently, the Delldonna’s were revisited by good luck once again, this time in the form of a winning
Classic Lotto jackpot “Quick Pick” ticket for the April 16th drawing worth $2.7 million.
Pauline discovered their good fortune in the morning newspaper the day after the drawing. The winning Classic Lotto numbers for April 16 were 2 - 7 - 10 - 23 - 27 - 35. “I saw the numbers matched and I just started screaming.” Double-checking the numbers with Robert, they both agreed it was a winner. While the Delldonna’s was the only winning jackpot ticket sold on that date, there were 8,192 winning tickets sold statewide for the drawing ranging from $2 to $1,321.
Classic Lotto’s jackpot prize is payable as a 21-year annuity or as a one-time cash lump-sum. After consulting with a financial advisor, the Delldonna’s chose the jackpot’s lump-sum option of $1,645,640 and received a prize check for $1,127,263 (after taxes).
