CT Celebrates First Day of Summer with $2,000,000 Powerball Prize Win in Windham County
Last Saturday, June 21 was the first official day of summer—and it turned out to be a hot one for someone who purchased a $2 Powerball ticket in Windham County for that night's drawing. The unknown ticketholder matched the first five numbers drawn. Because they added on the “Power Play” feature for an extra $1, they automatically doubled the original $1,000,000 win for a total prize worth $2,000,000.
The winning Powerball numbers on June 21, 2014 were 5-6-37-41-54 the Powerball number was 26. In total, 6,955 winning Powerball tickets were sold statewide for that date, with prizes ranging from $4 to $2,000,000.
Since the new Powerball game began on January 15, 2012, Connecticut has sold 19 prize winning tickets each worth $1,000,000, plus another 7 tickets that were “Power Played” for the game’s $2,000,000 prize. Updated 06/23/14: Joseph Hawkins of Moosup
