Annual Responsible Gambling
Holiday Campaign

The CT Lottery hosted its 10th Annual “Give a Child a Toy, Not a Ticket" Holiday Toy Drive from November 20 through December 31, 2023 to help raise awareness that lottery tickets are not suitable gifts for children, and to collect toys for patients at Connecticut Children's.

To do this, the CT Lottery proudly partnered with Connecticut Children’s, iHeart Radio and FOX61. We launched a multi-media effort aimed to educate adults not to buy lottery tickets for children under 18. Instead, we encouraged monetary donations to Connecticut Children’s through our virtual toy drive.

This year, we collected over $1,400 in donations that will help purchase toys to be used as a distraction from pain before shots, tests and surgeries, and to help celebrate birthdays and special events during longer stays.

Over the years, the CT Lottery has coordinated the donation of 30,000 toys, while also spreading the Responsible Gambling message that lottery tickets are not suitable gifts for children.

We are a proud recipient of the National Council on Problem Gambling 2022 Gift Responsibly Campaign Award for our 2021 Holiday "Give a Toy, Not a Ticket" toy drive. Our annual "Give a Toy, Not a Ticket" campaign is geared towards reminding players that lottery tickets are not suitable gifts for children, and we leverage all of our promotional channels to spread that message. The toy drive component benefits Connecticut Children's, and our efforts delivered a record 15,000 donated toys to the hospital to help comfort young patients in 2021!

Responsible gambling is a tenet of the Connecticut Lottery Corporation's mission, and it is one that we focus on throughout the year.
