New Britain Winner to Spend Lottery Prize on Family EducationNew Britain resident, Ismael Torres Jr., had never won a large prize before claiming $25,000 on a “Star” instant ticket game. “It made my day today,” Torres Jr. said about his big win.
The lucky winner had stopped by a local CT Lottery retailer before work to play a scratch ticket. “I drove to my job, parked at the side of the building, and scratched it [ticket]. I saw the numbers—I was ecstatic! Wow, I was speechless—I started screaming with joy!” Thrilled about claiming his prize, Torres Jr. couldn’t wait to drive over to the CT Lottery headquarters.
Torres Jr. works long hours as a truck driver to support his family of five along with two dogs and cats. He is excited to ease his financial load, spend the winnings on “Back to School” supplies for his children and put some of the money into college funds. Education comes first in Torres Jr.’s household!
For selling the winning ticket, Food Mart located on 1376 Berlin Turnpike in Kensington will receive a $250 check from the CT Lottery.
