New Britain Resident Plays “20X Cash” For the First Time, Claims $20,000
It was a casual Saturday morning of errands for Mateusz Jankowski of New Britain when his luck suddenly changed.
“I went shopping for some groceries and saw that the customer service center opened in 15 minutes—I decided to buy one [a scratch ticket],” Jankowski told Lottery officials.
It was Jankowski’s first time playing “20X Cash 2nd Edition
”; and it turns out, one play is all he needed to claim the $20,000 top prize!
After unloading the groceries at home, “I used a spoon [to play the ticket]—because it was the first thing I could find,” Jankowski said with a chuckle.
“I scratched the first row—nothing—I scratched the second row—‘Oh my gosh! That’s 20 times $1,000!’” Jankowski immediately ran to his father to deliver the good news. Still in shock, Jankowski made sure to use the nearest ticket checker at a local CT Lottery retailer; his winnings were confirmed.
Jankowski works hard as an Aircraft Mechanic and is looking to make his commute to work a little more enjoyable. “I want to get new tires and graphics for my Acura!” Winnings in hand, a very happy Jankowski couldn’t stop smiling as he left the CT Lottery Headquarters in Rocky Hill.
For selling Jankowski his top prize winning ticket, Stop & Shop #645, located at 1309 Corbin Avenue, in New Britain, will receive a $200 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
