Bristol Man Strikes It Hot, Wins a Cool $57,777 Top PrizeAfter grabbing a bite to eat for breakfast last Sunday, Jay Thaxter of Bristol and his wife, Chelsea, made a quick stop to pick up a couple CT Lottery scratch tickets to play. “I let the clerk pick out the tickets for me,” Jay told Lottery officials.

The clerk handed Jay a “Fire and Ice” and a “Run The Table” ticket, which was good—Run the Table is one of Jay’s favorites. “Just to be a brat,” said Jay with a laugh, “my wife took the Run The Table ticket, because she knows I like that game, and gave me the Fire and Ice to play.” Chelsea’s ticket wasn’t a winner, but Jay found a winning number match on his—along with a $57,777 top prize.

“When I found the number match I thought, ‘Good, at least I won my $5 back.’ When I saw the ($57,777) prize, I thought I was seeing things…no way, but the numbers matched. That’s when I told her, ‘See. You should have let me have the Run The Table.’”

All kidding aside, Jay and Chelsea have a lot to look forward to. Their unexpected windfall will help them pay off some bills and find a new home. “We’ve been looking to buy a house the last couple months, so this will definitely help with that.”

Thaxter’s top prize winning Fire and Ice ticket was purchased at Fas Mart #302 at 194 Kelsey Street, Newington. Fas Mart #302 will receive a $577.77 bonus check from the CT Lottery for selling the ticket.
