Meriden Resident Realizes $50,000 Lottery Prize Win
Just before Jennifer Woodtke and her husband, Bob, walked into their favorite retailer to buy some lottery tickets, Bob said he had a feeling that they were going to “win something big” that day. A short time later, that premonition became a reality when Jennifer purchased a “Super Cashword 18
” scratch ticket with 10 complete words for the game’s $50,000 top prize.
“The first two (Super Cashword) tickets I scratched all the letters and played the game out, but I didn’t win anything. I was feeling tired when I played the third ticket, so I just scratched the barcode off and put it in the ticket checker. I saw a ‘5’ and all these zeros. I kept saying to Bob, ‘Is this real? Is this real?’” Jennifer told Lottery officials.
The game Super Cashword, similar in style to a crossword puzzle, has been a long-time fan favorite since it was first launched by the CT Lottery in 2002. Those who enjoy the extended style of play, like Jennifer, build prizes upon how many matches are made as the play is completed.
The couple quietly brought the winning ticket home where Jennifer took the time to play the game in its entirety. It was indeed a winner. “This is all very exciting,” said the Meriden resident just before receiving her prize check from Lottery officials for $50,000 (before taxes). “This will go towards fixing up the house and paying some bills.”
Woodtke purchased her top prize winning ticket at the very popular A & S Quik-Pik at 692 E. Main Street in Meriden. A&S Quik-Pik will receive a $500 bonus check from the CT Lottery for selling Woodtke her $50,000 prize winning ticket.
