Lucky Electric Boat Employee Claims “$25,000 a Year for Life” Second Prize for April 30th
Shortly after the twice weekly “Lucky for Life” drawing was held on April 30, John Angell of Griswold logged onto the CT Lottery’s website to check the Lucky winning numbers. “I’m really good with numbers,” Angell told Lottery officials. “I knew the numbers I had on my ticket, and knew immediately I had a match! Wow…I was shocked!”
The winning Lucky for Life
numbers on April 30, 2015 were 9-12-27-34-38 with the Lucky Ball number, 18. Angell’s Quick Pick ticket matched the first 5 numbers drawn, but missed the Lucky Ball. For making such a lucky match, Angell was rewarded with the game’s second highest “For Life” prize, $25,000 a year for life.
Lucky’s ever-popular second prize has been won a total of 17 times since the new version of the game began in January 2015, four of which have been claimed in Connecticut.
Angell arrived at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill this morning opting to claim his $25,000 a year for life second prize in a one-time cash lump-sum of $390,000 (value before taxes). “I’m going to retire a year from June. This will help out a lot,” said the General Dynamics Electric Boat employee of nearly 42 years. “I’m going to pay off my bills and invest in my retirement. My son and his family will also be getting a really great Christmas present this year, too.”
For selling the $25,000 a year for life prize winning ticket, Sully’s Mobil® Mart, located at 382 Vauxhall Street in New London will receive a $2,500 bonus check from the CT Lottery. “That’s fantastic news,” said Patrick Sullivan, owner of Sully’s Mobil Mart; a Lottery High-Tier Claim Center since 2008. “A prize like that will make [Angell’s] retirement just a little bit sweeter. I’m very happy for him. We wish all our customers at Sully’s Mobil good luck!”
