Stratford’s “Lucky for Life” Winner Claims “$25,000 a Year for Life” Second PrizeAs part of an ongoing and steady stream of winners in the “Lucky for Life” draw game, Edward Maceyunas of Stratford arrived at CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill last week to claim the game’s second prize worth $25,000 a year for life.
The winning numbers drawn on July 28 were 4-7-17-19-27 with the Lucky Ball number, 27. Maceyunas’
Lucky for Life ticket missed the Lucky Ball number, but his five number match generously rewarded him with the game’s second highest “For Life” prize.
“It was early in the morning when I first checked the [winning] numbers from my phone. They looked familiar, so I went downstairs, got my ticket and logged on to the lottery’s website (ctlottery.org) on my computer,” said Maceyunas who has been faithfully playing his family’s birthday numbers ever since the Lucky for Life game began. “When I saw I won the $25,000 a year for life prize, I was shocked.”
Last Friday, Maceyunas opted to collect his $25,000 a year for life second prize in a one-time cash lump-sum of $390,000 (value before taxes). “I’m dying to get a new car—I’ve never had one. I’m also going to take care of my family,” Maceyunas said.
Maceyunas’ lucky match brings the total number of lifetime wins in New England to 35, including 14 wins in Connecticut alone, since September 2013.
Maceyunas purchased his winning Lucky for Life ticket at Sam’s News, located at 60 Access Road in Stratford. Sam’s News will receive a $2,500 bonus check from the CT Lottery for selling the ticket.
