Bridgeport School Teacher Wins Cool $10,000
While hoping for a significant win on the CT Lottery "10X Cash 2nd Edition" instant game ticket she was playing, Barbara Flynn, a school teacher from Shelton, quickly discovered that she scored the game's top prize worth $10,000. "That was pretty cool" said Flynn with a grin.
Having scratched and revealed a "5X" symbol on her ticket, Flynn's original $2,000 prize amount was multiplied by 5 for a total win of $10,000. Flynn's winning moment was also very exciting for the two store clerks at All-Star Petro Mart located at 18 Old Stratford Road in Shelton who sold her the ticket. "They both came around the counter to give me a big hug," Flynn told lottery officials.
Flynn arrived at CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill yesterday to accept her check for $7,002 (prize value after taxes). When asked how she felt, Flynn replied, "Lucky. I have good friends, good family; I'm lucky."
Flynn already has plans for her $10,000 windfall; she'll put some of the prize money towards a down payment on a condo and will also pay some bills.
