“First CT Lottery Millionaire of 2013” Claims $1,000,000 “New Year’s Super Draw” Top PrizeThe winter months are typically a quiet time of year for Giuseppe “Joe” Ambrosio, Jr., a landscaping and masonry tradesman who lives in Norwalk. Today, however, was anything, but “typical” when Ambrosio stepped forward to claim the title of “First CT Lottery Millionaire of 2013” as the $1,000,000 top prize winner in the New Year’s “Super Draw” drawing, which was held on January 1.
On New Year’s Day, Ambrosio’s uncle called to remind him to check his Super Draw tickets for winners. Ambrosio went to the CT Lottery’s website to locate the top prize winning Super Draw number - 111163 - and was astounded to find that one of the tickets he had purchased for the drawing was an exact match for the $1,000,000 top prize. “I like raffles,” Ambrosio explained to Lottery officials with a quiet grin. “I won a couple smaller prizes in last year’s Super Draw, so I figured I’d try winning again.”
Accompanied by his family, Ambrosio received a check for $683,003 (prize value after taxes). “Winning is a big relief,” Ambrosio said. “It’s been tough working to pay bills and making ends meet. Now, I’ll finally have some extra money that I can save for the future.”
“Handing out a $1,000,000 prize check to a new CT Lottery millionaire is a great way to celebrate the New Year,” said Anne M. Noble, President and CEO for the CT Lottery. “We look forward to making many more CT Lottery millionaires in 2013.”
Ambrosio’s $1,000,000 top prize winning New Year’s Super Draw ticket was purchased at Tracey’s Smoke Shop located at 493 Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk. Tracey’s Smoke Shop will receive a check for $10,000 for selling the ticket.
The winning names, stories and photos on this website are just a small number of the thousands who claim prizes. The fact is, people win every day with the CT Lottery! Below is a list of recently claimed prizes of $10,000 or more. Please Note: When a winning scratch ticket is validated through a Lottery Retailer's terminal, the remaining number of unclaimed prizes for that prize level is automatically updated reflecting one less prize. Until the individual or group presents their winning ticket for claim at CT Lottery Headquarters, the identity of a winner is unknown.
