Wallingford Woman Satisfies Sweet Tooth with $10,000 PrizeMany people have a fondness for chocolate, and Patty MacKenzie of Wallingford is no exception. When she dropped her brother off at his job at Food Bag, located at 54 S. Broad Street in Meriden, she purchased a container of chocolate milk, along with an “Emerald Green 8’s & Ruby Red 7’s” instant game lottery ticket. While the chocolate milk helped to satisfy her sweet tooth, the Emerald Green 8’s & Ruby Red 7’s rewarded her pocket with a $10,000 top prize.
“When I scratched an Emerald Green 8 and saw the $10,000 prize, I thought, 'No, it can’t be,'” MacKenzie told Lottery officials with a laugh. “I called my brother and asked him what I should do. I went back to the store to scan it in a Ticket Checker to see if it was real. It was real!”
MacKenzie arrived at CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill today to accept a prize check for $6,833 (value after taxes). “I’m going to pay some bills, buy a new TV, and put the rest in the bank,” MacKenzie said.
For selling MacKenzie her top prize winning ticket, Food Bag will receive a check for $100 from the CT Lottery.
The winning names, stories and photos on this website are just a small number of the thousands who claim prizes. The fact is, people win every day with the CT Lottery! Below is a list of recently claimed prizes of $10,000 or more. Please Note: When a winning scratch ticket is validated through a Lottery Retailer's terminal, the remaining number of unclaimed prizes for that prize level is automatically updated reflecting one less prize. Until the individual or group presents their winning ticket for claim at CT Lottery Headquarters, the identity of a winner is unknown.
