Ten Words Equal $50,000 Prize for Ansonia WinnerThese days, life is anything but “ABJECT” for Dan Mangado of Ansonia, but yesterday the word fit perfectly—giving Mangado the 10th and final word needed to win $50,000 in the CT Lottery instant game, “Super Cashword 14.” “All I needed to find was a ‘B,’ and I found it in the word ABJECT, right on my ticket,” Mangado told lottery officials.
Mangado, a custom cabinet and countertop installer, describes himself as a fan of the Lottery’s $3 “Cashword” instant games. “I like that it takes time to play,” Mangado commented about the game’s extended play style. Yesterday, while cashing a $20 winning lottery ticket, Mangado decided to shuffle things up a bit, and for the first time purchased two $5 Super Cashword 14 tickets. The first ticket Mangado played was a non-winning one, however, the second ticket was a $50,000 eye-popper. “I’ve never won anything this big in all my life,” Mangado remarked.
Shortly after, Mangado arrived at CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to accept his prize check for $34,251 (value after taxes). “Now I’ll be able to buy a new truck, and more tools,” said Mangado.
For selling Mangado his top prize winning ticket, Krauser’s Food Store, located on 429 New Haven Avenue in Derby, will receive a $500 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
