Bill Grouten Claims “$100,000 Cashword 6” Instant Game Top Prize
Oh What a Feeling—Burlington Man Finds “$100,000 Prize Win” in Six Red Words
August 15, 2014 --
Bill Grouten of Burlington is a big fan of the CT Lottery’s “$100,000 Cashword 6
” game. Not only does Grouten enjoy the extended-play aspect of Cashword, but he’s also been fortunate to win some of the game’s varied prizes.
“I like the $10 Cashword game the best, probably because I’ve been lucky with winning. I buy my tickets at different places,” Grouten said. “This time, I had five red words, so I knew that a sixth red word had to be there. All I needed was one more letter.”
At the bottom of puzzle two, Grouten found his $100,000 top prize win in a sixth red word—AWAY. “What a feeling—it was fantastic!” said Grouten.
Claiming his prize winning $100,000 Cashword 6 ticket at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill, Grouten received a check for $68,303 (after taxes). “This is amazing,” said Grouten with a big smile. “I’m going to put this money right in the bank, and help my two kids.”
Grouten purchased his winning ticket at Daily Mart, located at 1660 Stafford Avenue in Burlington. The store will receive a $1,000 check from the CT Lottery for selling the ticket.
