Wilsa Maisonave’s “Quick Pick” Ticket is a Top Prize Winner on September 13th
Heads Up, She Wins—Lucky Meriden Resident is “Cash5” $100,000 Prize Winner
September 17, 2013 -- On Friday the 13th, Wilsa Maisonave of Meriden entered a convenience store to buy lunch when she found a penny heads up—a sign of good luck. Picking up the penny, Maisonave bought a “Quick Pick” ticket for the “
Cash5” nightly drawing. The following day, Maisonave scanned her ticket in a lottery ticket checker and was rewarded with an unexpected surprise—she had matched all five of the winning Cash5 numbers for the $100,000 top prize win.
“I was completely dumbfounded,” Maisonave told Lottery officials. “I couldn’t believe it was real. So, I scanned the ticket again in the ticket checker and then asked the retailer for a print out…it was a $100,000 winner.”
The Cash5 numbers drawn on September 13, 2013 were 9 - 21 - 25 - 30 - 34. A total of 3,822 winning tickets were sold statewide for that drawing. Prize values ranged from $2 to $100,000 each.
Maisonave arrived at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill yesterday morning, happy to collect a prize check for $68,300 (prize value after taxes). “I’m going to pay bills first, but then I want to take the kids on a vacation to Disney World.”
For selling Maisonave her $100,000 prize winning ticket, Krauser’s, located at 1959 State Street in Hamden, will receive a $1,000 selling bonus from the CT Lottery.
