Michael Volpe of East Haven Claims $30,000 Top Prize
East Haven Man is Two-Time “30X Cash” Lottery Prize Winner
August 08, 2013 -- The first time that Michael Volpe of East Haven came to CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to claim a prize he won a $10,000 prize playing the “30X Cash” instant game.  Volpe’s second visit occurred just a little over a month later—this time to claim the game’s $30,000 top prize. “The fact that there are a lot of big prize winning tickets in the 30X Cash game is what’s appealing to me,” Volpe told Lottery officials.  “It’s great—I’ve won big twice!”

While filling up his car at a local gas station one morning, Volpe went inside the store to get a bottle of water and cash a winning lottery ticket.  With $30, he purchased a “30X Cash” ticket and then walked back to his car to play it.  “As soon as I saw the $30,000 prize, I stopped scratching and drove straight here with the ticket,” said Volpe.

Volpe received a prize check for $20,499 (value after taxes).  “My daughter is getting married, so she’ll be seeing a larger wedding gift, that’s for sure,” Volpe said with a smile.

Volpe’s 30X Cash top prize winning ticket was purchased at Forbes Premium Fuel, located at 863 N. High Street in East Haven.  Forbes Premium Fuel will receive a $300 bonus check from the CT Lottery for selling the ticket.
