New Powerball® with Power Play® Variable Prize Multiplier Returns on Jan. 22
January 07, 2014 --
The CT Lottery is excited to welcome back the Powerball game’s “variable prize” Power Play multiplier, starting with the January 22, 2014 drawing. The return of the variable prize Power Play multiplier will replace the previously used “set prize” Power Play payouts, meaning that for the same $1 extra players will have the chance to multiply any prize, except the jackpot and the Match 5 prize, as much as 5 times!
“The return of Powerball’s variable prize Power Play multiplier, which will include the number 5, is welcome news,” said CT Lottery President and CEO, Anne M. Noble. “When players have a chance to increase their potential winnings, there is a heightened level of excitement.”
Under the new Powerball
game rules, a separate drawing will be held at the start of each drawing to select the Power Play number – a 2, 3, 4 or 5 – for all prizes except the jackpot and the Match 5 prize. The Match 5 prize is automatically $2,000,000 if the Power Play option is purchased.
Ticket sales for Powerball “Advance Action” play up to 26 draws in advance will resume January 19, 2014. Powerball's ticket price will remain $2, and the price of purchasing the Power Play option will also remain unchanged at $1.
