CT Lottery Wins “Holiday Lottery Campaign Award” for Second Consecutive Year
October 08, 2013 -- The CT Lottery was selected by the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) and the International Centre for Youth Gambling Problems and High-Risk Behaviors at McGill University as the winner of the “Best 2012 U.S. Holiday Lottery Campaign.”  The award, which was presented at the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) Annual Conference and Trade Show in Providence, Rhode Island on October 3, was accepted by Anne M. Noble, CT Lottery President and CEO, and Chelsea Turner, CT Lottery Director of Government, Regulatory and Operational Affairs.

The award recognized the CT Lottery’s continued and outstanding commitment during the holiday season to promote responsible play in a creative, appealing and diverse way and by the wide variety of marketing and advertising mediums used.

“I am very proud that the CT Lottery continues to be recognized throughout the lottery industry for our leadership on responsible play,” Noble said.  “Receiving the Holiday Campaign Award for the second year further exemplifies our commitment to meeting the highest standards in our industry for corporate and social responsibility.  While most people who gamble do so responsibly, the Lottery is committed to reminding the public that gambling is for adults and lottery tickets are not suitable gifts for children.”

In 2012, the NCPG and McGill University selected the CT Lottery as the first recipient of the “Best 2011 North American Holiday Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Campaign” award.

The Holiday Lottery Campaign spreads a responsible gaming message about underage lottery play during the holiday season, and has gained momentum over the past 5 years.  Just last week, the NASPL Board of Directors unanimously approved a resolution encouraging participation in the holiday campaign, which promotes responsible and legal gifting of lottery products.  In 2012, there were 37 participating North American and international lotteries.

The CT Lottery also participates in the World Lottery Association's responsible gaming accreditation program.  In 2012, the CT Lottery achieved Level 2 Accreditation – one of only six U.S. lotteries to achieve this distinction, and it is now working towards Level 3 Accreditation.
