CT Lottery Official Web Site - Super Draw FAQs

UPDATED 1/12/2018

When did the CT Super Draw drawing take place?
The drawing took place at 11:00 AM, January 1, 2018.

How many CT Super Draw tickets were sold?
214,601.

Who performed the drawing?
Employees from the CT Lottery and officials from the Department of Consumer Protection.  The drawing was also witnessed by an independent accountant, Marcum LLP.

What happened?
Due to human error, 100,000 ticket numbers were not included in the January 1 drawing.  The tickets were numbered consecutively.  The ticket number range sold was 100,001 – 314,601.  The ticket number range was incorrectly entered as 100,001 – 214,601.  As a result, any ticket number above 214,601 was not included in the January 1 drawing.

What corrective actions are being taken?
The CT Lottery will conduct an additional drawing that includes the correct ticket number range.  Additionally, the CT Lottery will honor all winning tickets from both drawings.

UPDATE: When is the next drawing?
The CT Lottery has announced the additional CT Super Draw drawing will take place Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at 11:00 AM.

UPDATE: How do I claim my prizes?
Please note that a small number of players may win in both drawings on a single ticket. If you happen to be one of these lucky players, you must either mail your ticket into Lottery headquarters to claim your prize or come to Lottery headquarters.CT Lottery headquarters is located at 777 Brook Street in Rocky Hill.Players who win in both drawings on a single ticket will not be able to cash their ticket at retail locations.

Cashing for all other CT Super Draw winning tickets will occur normally. As is the case with all Lottery games, any winner who wins a prize greater than $5,000 must come to CT Lottery headquarters to claim his/her prize.

Why does the next drawing include all tickets, and not just the 100,000 that were excluded?
Everyone who purchased a CT Super Draw ticket purchased one chance to win in one drawing.  The January 1 drawing was not conducted according to the approved game rules and drawing procedures.  Because of this, the CT Lottery is planning to conduct an additional drawing under the approved game rules and drawing procedures, which require that the total tickets sold should be included.

How will the CT Lottery pay for the drawing that was conducted in error?
The CT Lottery will use unclaimed prize money.

When will I be able to cash my tickets?
Cashing for both drawings will be made available shortly after the additional drawing takes place.

What about the odds in the additional drawing?
The additional drawing will take place according to the official CT Super Draw game rules and approved drawing procedures.  Based on the total number of tickets sold, the odds of winning the top prize are 1:214,601.

Will prizes ($) change in the additional drawing?
No. The prize structure for CT Super Draw will remain the same -- 1,311 total prizes, including a top prize of $1 million.

I threw away my ticket.  What do I do?
If you discarded your ticket(s), please fill out the Ticket Claim Form. Email, mail or drop off this form to CT Lottery, ATTN: Security, 777 Brook Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067. Every claim will require research prior to a decision.  Research can typically take up to six (6) weeks.

How is the Lottery handling this?
There is an internal investigation being conducted by the CT Lottery.  The Department of Consumer Protection is also conducting an investigation.

Why is it taking so long?
(Jan. 5, 2018) The CT Lottery hopes to announce the date of the additional CT Super Draw 14 drawing soon. Currently, the CT Lottery is working with the CT Department of Consumer Protection and Scientific Games on software changes that will allow the gaming system to recognize a win from both the January 1, 2018 drawing as well as the upcoming drawing.

Additionally, there are security and integrity features that must work properly when cashing these tickets at retail. We have made a lot of progress and are confident that we will have a solution.
