SCRATCH GAMES WINNER!
Andrew Blacker Wins Top Prize Playing “Cashword 19” Instant Game
22-Year Old Noank Resident Wins $25,000 Lottery Prize on a “WHIM”
August 17, 2012 -- During a recent trip to the grocery store, Andrew Blacker, 22, of Noank cashed in a couple lottery tickets and purchased a “Cashword 19” instant ticket with his winnings for a little bit more fun.  “Cashword takes some time to play, and I enjoy that part,” Blacker said.  After scratching 20 of the corresponding letters on his Cashword puzzle, Blacker uncovered the letter “H” revealing the word “WHIM” for a total of ten words and a top prize worth $25,000.  “My roommate and I were both speechless,” Blacker told Lottery officials with an ear-to-ear grin.

Cashword, which is similar in style to a crossword puzzle, has long been a fan favorite since it was first launched by the CT Lottery in 1998.  Those, like Blacker, who enjoy the extended style of play, build prizes upon how many matches are made as the play is completed.

Blacker arrived at CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to claim his prize check for $17,076 (value after taxes) was clearly thrilled with his $25,000 prize win.  “I just started a new job, so this is going to be a big help with getting a new apartment…and a couple of new suits!” Blacker said.

For selling Blacker his top prize winning ticket, Stop & Shop, located at 91 Voluntown Road in Stonington will receive a $250 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
