Lottery to Deliver $6.5 Million to General Fund
CT Sells Mega Millions® $250,000 Second Prize Winning Ticket in Greenwich
April 03, 2012 --
While the world was transfixed on the record breaking Mega Millions® $640 million jackpot last Friday, March 30, Anthony Johnson of Greenwich swooped in to claim the game’s second highest prize worth $250,000.
The winning Mega Millions
numbers on March 30 were 2 - 4 - 23 - 38 - 46. Johnson matched the first five numbers drawn, but missed the Mega Ball® number, which was 23. In total, 204,003 winning Mega Millions tickets were sold in Connecticut for that date, with prizes ranging from $2 to $250,000.
Johnson purchased his “Quick Pick” winning ticket from Putnam Shell located at 401 Putnam Street in Greenwich. “We are so happy that we sold a $250,000 winning Mega Millions ticket,” said Putnam Shell owners, Carmen and Judy Moretti. “We really hope the winning ticket was purchased by one of our regular customers.” Putnam Shell will receive a $2,500 selling bonus from the CT Lottery.
Since the Mega Millions jackpot run began on January 25, the CT Lottery delivered $6.5 million to the state’s General Fund as a result of Mega Millions ticket sales, marking the game’s largest contribution from a jackpot run since Connecticut joined the Mega Millions game on January 31, 2010.
