Dale Beaulieu of Terryville Matches Five Numbers in Sept. 30 Mega Millions Drawing
Ex-Crane Operator Lightens His Load Winning $250,000 Mega Millions® Prize
October 05, 2011 -- “When the Mega Millions® jackpot starts to get high,” says Dale Beaulieu of Terryville, “that’s when I start buying tickets.” On September 30, 2011, Beaulieu purchased several
Mega Millions “Quick Pick” tickets for that evening’s drawing at Waterbury Food Stop, located at 21 Homer Street, in Waterbury. When he scanned the tickets the following morning, Beaulieu said he was “completely blown away” when he saw the “Ticket Checker” message. “It said, ‘Congratulations, $250,000 Winner;’ I couldn’t believe it,” said Beaulieu.
Beaulieu was the single Mega Millions winning ticket holder in Connecticut for the September 30 drawing who matched the first 5 numbers drawn, 3 - 19 - 21 - 44 - 45, missing the Mega Ball number of 29. His lucky match was worth an amazing $250,000. “I missed winning the jackpot by one number, but this is still really good,” Beaulieu said.
Beaulieu told Lottery officials that the prize check he received for $170,750 (value after taxes) will have a big impact on his life. “I’m not really able to work after I was in a crane accident several years ago. I’d like to help my daughter buy a car, and then I’ll put the rest of the money in the bank,” Beaulieu said.
There were a total of 8,532 winning tickets sold statewide for the September 30, 2011 drawing whose values ranged from $2 to $250,000 each.
For selling Beaulieu his $250,000 prize winning ticket, Waterbury Food Stop will receive a $2,500 bonus from the CT Lottery.
