June 27, 2011 --
When Yisenia Tirado of Bloomfield received a phone call from her husband, Dwight, he asked her a very simple question; ‘Would you believe me if I told you, you got four numbers in last night’s Lucky-4-Life
drawing?’ To help sway Yisenia’s disbelief, Dwight sent a text from his cell phone—it showed a picture of a CT Lottery “Lucky-4-Life” draw ticket for the June 16, 2011 drawing with a four number match worth an amazing $10,000. “First I said, ‘no,’ but then I believed him,” Yisenia told Lottery officials with a laugh.
The winning Lucky-4-Life numbers drawn on June 16 were 2 - 6 - 22 and 35. Yisenia’s “Quick Pick” ticket matched those four numbers, but did not match the Lucky Ball number, which was 24. Of the 8,001 Lucky-4-Life winning tickets sold on that date, three winning tickets, including Yisenia’s, were a $10,000 prize match.
When Dwight saw his wife’s lottery tickets on the kitchen counter, he picked them up and logged onto the web to find the winning numbers. Of the five tickets Yisenia purchased, one left Dwight completely awestruck. “We had the first four numbers, but not the last number. When I looked up the prize and saw it was worth $10,000, I thought this is not for real,” Dwight said.
Yisenia and Dwight arrived at CT Lottery Headquarters in Rocky Hill recently and claimed a check for $6,850 (prize value after taxes). Thanks to the $10,000 prize win, an exciting family vacation was now on the horizon. “There’s also work around the house that needs to be done, too,” said Dwight, chiming in.
Yisenia purchased her winning Lucky-4-Life ticket at Hartford Newsstand at 901 Main Street in Hartford.
Four other Bloomfield residents have won a $10,000 prize playing Lucky-4-Life since the game began on March 29, 2009, including R. Garcia, Paul Mortensen, Sandra Pitts, and Curtis Taylor.
