Willimantic Man “Savors the Moment” After Winning $10,000 Lottery Prize

Emerald 10’s” instant ticket. “The most I have ever won is $100. I’ve never seen a winning ticket that high,” said Doubleday. “I’ve seen other people win, but not me, that’s for sure.”
Doubleday shared with lottery officials that he deliberately took some extra time to come to CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to claim his unexpected $10,000 windfall. “I wanted to savor the moment…like a Christmas present,” said Doubleday displaying a wide grin.
Doubleday told Lottery officials that winning the $10,000 prize could not have happened at a better time. “I’ve been playing Emerald 10’s the past couple weeks; a little here and a little there. When I saw the ‘COIN’ symbol…and the $10,000 prize…I thought, ‘no, that can’t be right,’” he said.
“All my family knows about the prize, and they’re all really happy for me,” said Doubleday.
Doubleday arrived at CT Lottery headquarters recently to claim his check for $6,853 (the prize value after taxes). “I’ve got some repairs to make on my truck and a mortgage payment. Then, I’m going buy something nice for my mom.”
Doubleday purchased his top prize winning Emerald 10’s ticket at Chucky’s, located at 407 Jackson Street in Willimantic. Chucky’s will receive a $100 bonus from the CT Lottery for doing so.
